Employer Frequently Asked Questions
Products and Services
Q. Where can I find rate information and purchase a plan?
A. Plans and rates vary by location and group size. Your insurance broker or Delta Dental sales representative can assist you in choosing the best coverage and rates for your company.
Use our RFP Assistant to find local contact information and submit a request for proposal for your group.
Q. How many employees are necessary for enrollment?
Q. Are Delta Dental products available in all states?
A. Yes. Delta Dental offers
dental benefits products in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. Your client's employees are covered no matter where they live or work. In fact, some Delta Dental products even offer coverage for dental emergencies outside of the US!
Q. My company has employees across the country. Is coverage different for employees who live out-of-state?
A. Out-of-state employees have the same coverage as employees who live within the state where your client is headquartered. In fact, because Delta Dental offers the nation's largest network, it's easy to find an in-network provider in all 50 states. Keep in mind that clients in other states may have their benefits through a different Delta Dental member company, and coverage does vary between member companies.
Q. Which Delta Dental network of dentists should I choose for my employees, Delta Dental Premier or Delta Dental PPO?
A. The
Delta Dental Premier network provides access to more than 80 percent of the providers nationwide. The
Delta Dental PPO network includes nearly 50 percent of the dentists nationwide. The Delta Dental PPO network offers greater savings to employers and employees, while the Delta Dental Premier network offers greater access to providers.
Q. How can my employees find a participating dentist near where they live or work?
A. Our dentist search tool allows subscribers to search for dentists in their area. They will need to know which network(s) their plan allows access to in order to search. Our tool allows them to search by additional criteria such as dentist or practice name, specialty, languages spoken, sex and hours of service.
Q. What are the benefits of visiting a Delta Dental network dentist?
A. When an employee visits a network dentist, they enjoy the following benefits:
| |
- They pay lower out-of-pocket costs than if they received care from a non-participating dentist because our network dentists have agreed to accept reduced fees.
- Balance billing is not allowed, because participating dentists agree to accept Delta Dental's fee and the patient co-payment or deductible (if applicable) as full payment.
- There are no forms for you or your employees to fill out because participating dentists submit claims directly to Delta Dental.
- We pay the dentist directly, so your employees don't have to pay the dentist and wait for a reimbursement check.
- They can have confidence that we have an ongoing relationship with our participating dentists and have ensured they meet national credentialing standards.

Q. Can my employees visit a non-participating dentist?
A. Many of our plans allow subscribers to visit any dentist they choose, while others require them to visit a network dentist in order to receive benefits. However, even for plans that do allow subscribers to visit out-of-network dentists, services performed by out-of-network dentists are covered at a lower benefit level and out-of-pocket costs may be higher. Overall, subscribers receive the greatest value when they visit a participating dentist.
