Don't let anxiety keep you from a healthy smile

Scared to go to the dentist? You’re not alone. Dental anxiety is common among adults and children, with children often being influenced by their parents' fears and attitudes toward dental treatment.

What are you scared of?

Dental phobia may involve more than just a fear of dentists, it can include fear of:

  • Dental procedures.
  • Needles.
  • Teeth.
  • The dentist's drill.

Tell your dentist. They’re here to help

It is important to share your fears and concerns with your dentist or dental hygienist. The dental team may be able to adapt their treatment to your needs. Many offices provide headsets and music or other ways to help manage anxieties and help you relax. If the office does not provide this service, bring your own music and listening device and work with your dental professional to lower your stress level. If your level of fear prevents you from making dental appointments, talk to a dentist about other ways to manage your fear.
